The project concern the addition of a pool area in a residential villa designed by David Chipperfield.

The concept is to genearte a quality outdoor space which can be used while relaxing on the pool and as an event space including a custom made outdoor kitchen and table in the evenings.

The material choice of siberian larch on a metal frame and of solid concrete is thought to respect the architecture and integrate to the ensemble in continuity with the main building, but with it's own character. A natural aging of the materials is fostered to create a patina on the materials and make them age in beauty and decency.

This project involves the addition of a pool area to a private residential villa originally designed by David Chipperfield. The goal was to create a high-quality outdoor space that could serve both as a tranquil retreat and a flexible venue for social gatherings.

The design envisions the pool area not only as a place for relaxation, but also as a refined setting for evening events—featuring a custom-designed outdoor kitchen and dining table. The spatial layout encourages fluid transitions between leisure and hospitality.

Material choices were made with sensitivity to the existing architecture: Siberian larch mounted on a metal frame, alongside solid concrete elements. These materials were selected to ensure both continuity with the villa’s architectural language and a distinct, complementary identity for the new addition. A natural aging process is intentionally embraced—allowing the materials to develop a patina over time, aging gracefully and adding depth and character to the ensemble.
