The "Oberhof" project is conceived as a contemporary reinterpretation of a traditional barn, rebuilt on the footprint of the original structure that has been recently demolished. A simple and rigorous volume, it reimagines the archetype of the Alpine barn in a modern key.

The building combines the solidity of its concrete base with the lightness of wooden surfaces, creating a material dialogue that enhances both functionality and aesthetics. The façades, articulated by vertical boards in natural wood, recall the traditional language of rural architecture, while the clarity of the geometries and the essentiality of the details give the project a modern and timeless character.

The interiors unfold in continuity with the exterior, emphasizing brightness, order, and the authenticity of natural materials.

The ongoing project proposes the reconstruction of a farmstead in South Tyrol, which was destroyed by a fire several years ago.The blaze not only reduced the stable and hayloft to ashes but also severely damaged the main house.

Typologically, the ensemble is classified as a “Bajuwarischer Paarhof” a traditional Bavarian paired farmhouse layout where the stable/hayloft and the house are roughly equal in size, forming a distinctive twin-volume configuration typical of the region.

The design process began with a clear intention: to preserve the original typology while modernizing the building's function. This means optimizing the farmhouse for contemporary agricultural needs improving ergonomics, providing ample space for machinery, and ensuring the hayloft is a column-free, easily accessible volume.

The basement level is designed in reinforced concrete to ensure structural stability, while the upper levels are proposed in timber construction. This approach enhances building efficiency and sustainability, with much of the wood sourced locally: pine for the structural frame and larch for the façade.
